London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra

The LPSO are a four piece, multi/instrumental vocal band who, using numerous instruments, props, costumes and audience participation, present a high energy show with a big emphasis on fun. Skiffle was a musical style which came to fruition in 1950's Great Britain when artistes like Lonnie Donegan showed kids that they could make their own music simply using guitars, tea chest basses and washboards. All you needed were a couple of chords and your granny's kitchen utensils and you had a band! The LPSO have extended this idea greatly, emphasising raw percussion but blending it with musical dexterity on a variety of instruments which include fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, trumpet and harmonica. Much of their material is original, but you will recognise much of what they do, although it will all be in their own unique style! So come and join the fun, let your hair down and enjoy a bit of musical escapism where very little, if anything, is taken seriously! Except, of course, for a truly eccentric percussionist, Captain Cabbage, who really has to be seen to be believed!
